APPLICATION SOFTWARE
APPLICATION SOFTWARE:- These are written (coded) programs that allow a user to perform a specific task. NOTE; a user is a person using the Computer.
Below are examples of application software:-
- Apps
- Word Processor
- Spreadsheet
- Presentation
- Database
- Control and measure
- Video Editing
- Picture Editing
Now let’s look at some of the functions of different examples of Application Software:-
- Apps: - Application programs that are normally found on smartphones. They are accessed from the “play store”.
- Word Processor:- Written application programs that allow a user to manipulate “edit” text in a document. Examples - Microsoft Office Word.
- Spreadsheet: - Written application programs that allow a user to manipulate “edit” numerical data. Example – Microsoft Office Excel – To perform calculations (Adding, subtraction, division, sorting data in ascending or descending order).
- Video Editing:- Application programs that allow a user to organize and edit video clips. Examples are – Wondershare Filmora, Microsoft Movie Maker.
- Presentation Software:- Application programs that allow a user to make a presentation using programs like Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Control & Measure:- Computers linking with sensors to produce instant results. Examples:- A thermometer to show a change in temperature in real-time.
- Photo Editing: - To edit pictures – changing picture color, cropping pictures, changing its brightness.
- Database;- Written programs that allow a user to organize, analyze data in a table form.
