INPUT & OUTPUT DEVICES:

Below are the examples of pointing devices:

  • keyboard.
  • Pointing device: - Mouse, Touchpad & Tracker ball.
  • Remote Control.
  • Joystick and driving wheel.
  • Touch Screen.
  • Scanner.
  • Digital Camera and Video Camera.
  • Microphone.
  • Sensors.
  • Graphics tablet.
  • Webcams.
  • Light Pens.

INPUT DEVICES: - These are hardware devices that allow data to be input (enter) into a computer.

Keyboard:- The most input device and is used to input text, numbers, and instructions into the computer. They mostly use the QWERTY layout.

NOTE:- Below are the types of keyboards; 

     

  • Standard Keyboard:- They have both letters, numbers, and symbols.

Concept Keyboard:- They use Icons and phrases instead of standard letters. They are mostly used in fast foods restaurants. They are waterproof and easy to learn.
  • Numeric Keypads: - hey are used to enter numbers only. They are found at ATM machines. Fast entry of data.

POINTING DEVICES: - These are devices the user use to control the position of a pointer (cursor) on the screen by moving the mouse around. 

NOTE: -Below are the 3 examples of pointing devices:

  • Mouse.
  • TouchPad.
  • Tracker ball.
MOUSE: - The mouse is an example of a pointing device used by a user to control the position of a pointer on the screen by moving the mouse around.

USES OF A MOUSE;

  • Opening, closing and minimizing software.
  • Moving and deleting files.
  • Image editing ( controlling the size and position of an image).
  • Controlling the position of a pointer

NOTE:- Below are the types of a computer mouse:

  • Optical Mouse.
  • Wireless (Cordless) Mouse.
  • PS2 Mouse.
OPTICAL MOUSE: - The movement of the cursor is detected by reflected light rather then the position of the moving ball. 

CORDLESS (WIRELESS) MOUSE: - They transmit a signal to a USB wireless receiver plugged into the computer. 

PS2 MOUSE:- The movement of the cursor is detected by the movement of the ball.

 NOTE :- The mouse has two buttons:

  • Left button:- For selecting/opening an application when clicked twice.
  • Right button:- To bring up a drop-down menu and more commands (Cut, Copy).
